The Dream…
1. CHANGED LIVES
We dream of seeing average, ordinary people transformed more and more into the image of Christ. We dream of a safe place where genuine transformation is pursued by everyone, regardless of leadership position.
2. SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
Imagine a church where the Holy Spirit is not relegated to the back seat of the church, but is desperately invited and welcomed. In this context, Christ-followers are empowered, spiritual gifts become the norm, and most importantly, Jesus is worshiped. We long for a new, fresh awakening of the Holy Spirit that is so legitimate and Christ-honoring that outsiders to the Christian faith are actually attracted.
3. COMMUNITY IMPACT
We dream of creatively engaging our community by constantly surprising them with God’s love. In addition, we want to partner with ministries in our community that are already making a difference. We dream of sending out hundreds of volunteers to partner with the Liberty Center, community food bank, the adult literacy program, Habitat for Humanity, etc.
4. FUTURE FACILITIES
Our facilities communicate a strong message long before we ever get a chance to utter a word! Regardless of our size and financial capabilities, we want to always honor God by providing excellent ministry environments. Let’s not get used to peeling paint, stained carpets, and mildew odors… Let’s constantly be on the prowl for how we can affordably send a message that we care about our appearance! Down the road, we dream of moving into the first phase of a multi-functional facility that was built to suit Journey’s vision and values… a place that kids will enjoy and adults will feel comfortable and safe.
5. LAUNCHING CHURCHES
Journey Church launched weekly services in 2007, because of the generosity of other churches. After growing to the place of sustainability, we dream of launching churches in nearby communities (we hope to launch our first church by 2012). We dare to imagine that Journey Church can create a network of northwestern Ohio churches that are collectively seeing a new generation drawn to the grace of Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:13).
6. MISSIONS IMPACT
From our beginning, we have sought to be involved in Jesus’ admonition to “be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We currently give over 10% of our tithes and offerings to local and world missions. We dream of a day that we are able to give even higher percentages of our general budget to missions. Further, we dream of providing annual week long opportunities where dozens of our attenders will be able to go and serve stateside and even worldwide. More than anything, we want to be a people who are actively praying for God’s purposes to be accomplished throughout our world.
